Marriage Masala work started in Sri Lanka when Rod was principal of Trinity College in Kandy. The marriage work is now continued by Dammi and Gamini trained by Rod and Ruthie.
Dhammika and Gamini Seneviratne are graduates of the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka where, in 1990 they both came to know Jesus as their Saviour from Buddhist backgrounds. In 1994 they were married and joined Campus Crusade. After training in India, they worked for 12 years among university students all over Sri Lanka, helping them to know God and to become strong in their faith. Gamini became the National campus co-ordinator and represented Sri-Lanka in south Asian planning meetings. They also pioneered an inter-church fellowship in Kandy (The KICF) in which they are still actively involved.
In 2006, they felt a strong call to Family Ministry and so stepped out in faith supported by a group of friends, and their local church. They felt that Marriage Masala was well suited to Sri Lanka and so trained under Rod and Ruthie, who were in working in Sri Lanka at that time. Dhammi translated “Marriage Masala” into Sinhala, and this is now available. For the last 3 years they have been running marriage seminars and family camps, and counselling individuals and couples, amongst the Sinhala majority community. A recent breakthrough has been the establishment of a Family Care Centre in the city of Kandy. They have a lively family of 2 boys and a girl.
Marriage Masala has been around for a while with Rod and Ruthie's initiative finding its roots in India and learning a valuable amount about marriages through their work in India. It has come to a stage now that they are not the only ones involved in the happenings of Marriage Masala. People from all over the world are involved in this exciting adventure taking different flavours and under different names are bringing hope to many marriages!
